Thermal paper is special heat sensitive paper used by printers with a thermal print head.

Normal 1-ply and 2/3 ply paper rolls are used by dot-matrix / impact printers.

You can tell if a paper roll is thermal by running the edge of a coin across the top - if it leaves a black line, then it is thermal paper.

If your equipment uses a replaceable ink roller or ink ribbon or ink cartridge, you most likely have a dot-matrix / impact printer so you will need normal paper rolls (1 ply, 2 ply or 3 ply as required). Otherwise you will need thermal paper rolls.

Some PDQ machines use a special type of 'action' paper roll which allows copies to be printed without an ink ribbon.

During busy trading periods, it is very easy for branch managers and branch staff to forget about checking stock levels and re-ordering paper rolls for tills, credit card pdq machines, receipt printers and other vital Point-of-Sale equipment. They will then panic, struggle and/or pay extortionate high street prices when they suddenly run out of rolls unexpectedly.

With our Consumables Stock Management Service, one of our stock control team pro-actively communicates by telephone with your Branch Managers at pre-defined intervals to check stock levels and monitor re-ordering requirements well in advance. We monitor paper roll usage patterns and trends at each branch to predict re-ordering needs, as well as take into account seasonal factors. This can be extended to other PoS consumables such as ink cartridges and ink ribbons as well as paper rolls.

We start by obtaining a branch contact list and equipment make/model, serial number and location details from you and estimated consumption rates. This is then used to setup a database and monitoring schedule from which we subsequently manage your consumables stock requirements for paper rolls and ink ribbons. Any branch/equipment changes/additions can be emailed to us as required.

BUFFER STOCK: We hold a generous buffer stock of your nationwide paper roll and ink ribbon/cartridge requirements and deliver supplies in a timely manner direct to your branches, in accordance with pre-agreed spending limits, obtaining head-office authorisation where required. We also provide you with regular management reports.

SERVICE COST: The cost of the Consumables Stock Management Service is FREE provided your annual consumables spend with us is in excess of the qualifying amount.
